These, like last week's #tbt, are waiting to go into my folksy shop.
I love free machine embroidery, that speical little foot was one of the best things I ever invested in.
Applique has and always will be one of my favourite pastimes, machine embroidery adds so much to it and makes so many more things possible in a much shorter amount of time.

Monday Make: This week's project

I made this for some friends with one of the craziest (but friendliest) dogs I know.

I had to properly Facebook stalk their photos to get enough pictures to do a good sketch of her. I wanted to capture those ears of hers without missing any of their insane pointiness.

My initial sketch, tidied up in photoshop.

Traced onto the fabric with a water soluble pen.

Stitching done.

Little black beads for eyes.

I'm super pleased with it and looking out for more cute doggies...

Monday Make: This week's project

This week I felt the need to patch up some of the boy's jeans, since they still fit I'm not prepared to throw them away just yet (they must be quite new because I keep having to buy new clothes in bigger sizes).

I didn't want to do ordinary patch ups, so I back the holes with coloured jersey (wondaweb, how I love thee) and handstitched random patterns in coloured embroidery thread.

I don't know how long it'll last but it'll probably be long enough for them to grow out of them.

I wonder how they got holes in...

#tbt: Blackwork Streetscene

Throw back Thursday: taking a look at stuff I've made in the past.

I made this in 2012, inspired by the smallest picture in the world which I spotted in a book catalogue of all places. 

I pretty much made it up as I went along, drawing straight onto the canvas with a water-soluble pen. 

Mr Strawberry was all like, "aren't you going to finish it?" and I was like, I totally have. The little snippets of colour are entirely intentional.

It took me about 3 months and I loved doing it, which lets face it, is the whole point.

It hangs in our bedroom, just under last week's jellyfish painting.
